“One in Twenty-Five”

A National Disaster Explained in One ActWritten & Produced by
Written by Thomas M Copeland
Directed by Nick Browne

In the final hours of the Rogers Commission’s investigation into the Challenger disaster, Nobel Laureate Richard P. Feynman performs a simple, televised demonstration with a rubber O-ring and a glass of ice water – exposing the uncomfortable truth behind NASA’s institutional failings.

“One in Twenty-Five” dramatizes this moment in real time, from inside a whitewashed hearing room in Washington D.C. As Feynman pushes for honesty, NASA’s acting administrator (played by Copeland) clings to the party line, while a conflicted chairman tries to keep it all on script.

The result is a compact, high-stakes chamber piece – a story about truth, pride, science, and the systems built to protect power.
